The Ducks Stars did not show up this series (Perry and Ryan). The Wings exposed the lack of mobility with the Ducks D core.
The Ducks depth players outplayed the Wings depth players but the Wings stars outplayed the Ducks stars by a huge margin.
Is there a player who skates worse than Bobby Ryan? Corey Perry might be a close second. Those guys looked slow and tired and downright uninterested.
I also cant remember seeing a goalie beat short side as many times a Hiller was this series. Howard outplayed him by a long shot.
It might be time for Selanne to hang them up. He looked tired and his hands seem to have deserted him. The puck bounces off his stick and he seems to turn it over all the time. Sucks to say it but it sure looks like he needs to skate off into the sunset.
Hats off to the Wings for wanting to move on more than the Ducks. |

This was as close as the Ducks and Kings ever came to playing each other..
It would have been great..
To many friends between King and Duck players, until we go head to head in the playoff's this series, this so called rivalry, will never get too intense. |

Thought the Ducks would win it but I agree that some of their top players looked tired and lethargic at times. I will miss the freeway series living 10 miles from the Honda Center I was planning to go! Next year?.. |

Perry I don't know, but Fasth could not continue at that pace.

It doesn't help that Abdelkader scored two big goals in the last two contests when he should have been suspended for more than the two games he received. |

Lack of mobility I think is the big one here. One of the more noticeable players for the Ducks was Etem because of that speed. Meanwhile Wings came in waves.
Their speed is what won this series as pointed out.

I know the Ducks gave the Blackhawks trouble all year, but it also seems that the Ducks, like many teams, lack depth. That's going to be a problem in the future as well when Perry and Getlaf have large cap hits. Same with Minnesota and other teams in that situation. One thing the Hawks right now at least have an advantage on is their star players have cap hits of 2-3 mil less than guys who signed their deals more recently. That will eventually become a problem in Chicago when Toews/Kane etc. are up for new deals in a couple of years. We're already going to see Stalberg most likely leave because the Hawks simply can't match what other teams could offer - including a better chance at playing Top 6 minutes.
I hope Teemu comes back for one more year. Love the guy, always have been a fan and he seems like a decent person as well as a great player. |

This team sort of reminds me of the Kings last season. Nobody saw them coming until it was too late. - Steve Palumbo
If this were true, then the Ducks would have been eliminated in game 4 or 5, not game 7. |

The Ducks depth was not a problem this series. The 4th line had the same amount of points as the top line (12 points each, Getz had 6 of the 12). Hard to win a series when your mil and a half 4th line ties your 22 million dollar top line.
Ducks had plenty of depth scoring this year and in the playoffs. It was the stars who failed the team. |

Barry's Partial response to the Ducks...Just facts!
Props to the Red Wings but leave it to the Ducks to screw up a showdown with the Kings in what might be Teemu Selanne’s final season.
How can the Ducks lose to THAT defense?
I’ll tell you how.
Bruce Boudreau in the post season:
This is his record with an amazing Washington team:
2007-08 Washington – Lost in round 1
2008-09 Washington – Lost in round 2
2009-10 Washington – Lost in round 1
2010-11 Washington – Lost in round 2
2011-12 Washington – Fired
2012-13 Anaheim – Lost in round 1
Maybe he should have thrown out a few more F bombs.
I guess I’ll just have to be happy with Home Ice Advantage vs the Sharks
I guess I’ll just have to give him the Alex Rodriguez award.
Come to think of it, here’s a few more nominees:
1) Corey Perry – 0 goals, 2 assists
2) Rick Nash – 0 goals, 1 assist
3) Jaromir Jagr – 0 goals, 3 assists -3
4) Jonathan Toews – 0 goals, 2 assists
5) Zach Parise – 1 goal, 0 assists -7
6) Chris Stewart – 0 goals, 1 assist
7) Nazim Kadri – 0 goals, 2 assists
8) The Vancouver Canucks

The series basically came down to Howard playing better than Hiller and Zetterberg playing better than Perry. I also think the enormity of the game 7 atmosphere overwhelmed most of the playoff rookies. The reason they looked so slow is they were afraid to skate. They just stood around and tried to get rid of the puck.
No matter, I'm really glad they got this experience. It will only help going forward. |

Most Kings fans would agree that the current biggest rivalry is against the sharks. The freeway series might have changed that. Maybe next year |

I'm a big Teemu fan, how can you not like that guy?.....I hope he goes one more season. I'm not really a ducks fan but I watch alot of Ducks games. Its hard to listen to Brian Hayward for too long. Hes the one good thing about there not being a freeway series. |

No shame losing to the Red Wings...Hank and Datsyuk played like monsters. Perry will bounce back...(remember when everyone gave up on Getzlaf last year?). We've locked up Getzlaf and Perry for 8 years, Etem and the kids looked great, Teemu will finish his legendary career freeing up a few bucks and hopefully Murray is smart enought to trade Bobby Ryan for a higher draft pick while his value is still up there...the future looks good boys. You can't win every year |
